The EDP Porto Marathon Virtual is scheduled for the week of 2 to 8 November 2020, with the main objectives of motivating and inspiring the community of runners, promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
Responding to the request of many regular runners who wanted to carry out the mythical race of the EDP Porto Marathon this year, the organization sought to provide this possibility, but in a different way, in a virtual way. Thus, all runners will be able to maintain the tradition of participating in the queen race of the entire road race calendar, preserving the rules of physical distance and good practices of control and regulation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Participants can choose between two distances: the 42 km run or the 6 km mini marathon / walk and can complete the proposed distances throughout the week from 2 to 8 November. Everyone who finishes the race will receive a digital number, a digital participation diploma and a fantastic physical commemorative medal.
Registration for the event is available at www.maratonadoporto.com.
The competitive aspect is not the only focus of this event, but the results table for both distances will be published by the organization on the website www.maratonadoporto.com. Each participant must send their result to the email from Runporto, geral@runporto.com, which will update the ranking table. The ratings are not official.
The concept of the EDP Porto Marathon Virtual is that all participants can do it anywhere in the world, always in order to ensure all prevention and control measures related to the pandemic and respecting the restrictions of the Directorate-General for Health and from the government.
The magic of completing the EDP Porto Marathon will be possible once again this year!
How does it work
The participant must register on the website www.maratonadoporto.com
When the registration is confirmed the participants will receive a confirmation. Registration is only confirmed after payment.
The Race Bib will be available on the website's confirmation page, shortly after payment.
DO I NEED TO RUN? WHAT IS THE DISTANCE?
In the EDP Porto Marathon Virtual you can choose between two distances: the 42 km Marathon and the 6 km Fun Race.
All participants will receive a finisher medal. The medal can be collected at Oporto Offices or, in alternative, can be sent by post to your address.
HOW MUCH?
Registrations can be made until 8 pm on November 7th.
Registration fee:
- Marathon - 9 € - includes Official Medal, Dorsal and Digital Diploma.
- Fun Race - 6 € - includes Official Medal, Dorsal and Digital Diploma.
Donations: At the time of registration, there will be several options available,with food items, which you can donate to the institution. These donations will be delivered in the days following the EDP Porto Marathon.
HOW CAN I DONATE FUNDS TO THE PORTUGUESE FOOD EMERGENCY NETWORK?
You can buy baskets to offer to needy families as an extra to your registration. In the registration process there will be the possibility to buy a basket with food to offer. Small Basket - 10 €, Medium Basket - 15 €, Family Basket - 20 €. These donations will be delivered in the days following the EDP Porto Marathon Virtual and communicated by email to donors.
Medal
After the event, participants can receive the medal as follows:
- Pickup at Loja do Corredor - Rua Santa Luzia 808 4250-415 Porto: FREE
- Sent by post - National (Portugal): 3.5 €
- Sent by post - International: 10 €
The medals will be sent by post to the addresses filled on the registration forms.
You can purchase the medal sending service to your address (national or international) when you are completing your registration, as an “Additional Option”, or later, by accessing “myrunporto” and choosing “Additional registration options”.
Results
The 42 km Marathon and the 6 km Fun Race will have results.
After completed the race the participants must send by email to geral@runporto.com the proof of the completed distance, photo / print of Polar, Garmin, Sunnto, Strava, etc.
The classification will be published on the event website, taking as correct the information that will be sent to the organization, not being approved for competitive purposes.
All participants will have a digital participation diploma available for download.
